Sabine Lake fly and conventional tackle fishing reports & photos

10/6/2006 Got blown off the water today after a quick bite on the north end of the lake.
The 5-10 mph wind was blowing 15mph by 9:00am
I hit the lake at 8:00am and had 4 solid keeper trout in less than 20 min. using bone diamond soft plastic under a popping cork.
It's funny, yesterday morning there wasn't a bird to be found on the North end and this morning the North end was nothing but birds working over trout chasing shrimp. The bite was short lived though, the wind was blowing straight down the lake. The bait fishermen are doing well fishing the river when the wind shuts the lake down.
Hopefully the wind will die off for Saturday, my son wants to head South and try for a Spanish Mackerel.
Tight lines, Mike
