My son and I were hoping the wind would die down enough to run to the South end of the lake this morning but we were blown out again at 8:00 am. We did make a drift on the North end behind rabbit island but the wind was still tuff there and getting stronger.
We did manage this one nice trout on a bone she pup. I had 3 more blow ups but couldn't get a hook up. Preston tried soft plastic under a popping cork but never got the 1st strike.
We retreated to the river and gave bait fishing a try. Live shad and finger mullet never drew the 1st fish. The full moon and the high wind just did us in. We hung it up at 12:00pm.
By 5:00pm today the wind looks like it had died down some. Hopefully it will stay down for Sunday and Monday.
By the way, Dutch our German short haired pointer puppy wound up with the She pup through her lip. I kept telling her to leave the bait alown because when it bites back it won't let go.
She found out the hard way but it was an easy release. I just cut the bend of the hook off. Thankfully only one hooh stuck and it was a through and through.
Tight lines, Mike
