Terry and Danita Roe drove in yesterday evening in hopes of getting a day of fishing in on Sabine lake Saturday before the thunder storms came on shore. Well that wasn't the case today. We did manage 4 hours on the water with good conditions before this tremendous black cloud came in from the South. It covered the South end of the lake and then proceeded North. We first thought it may take a more Westerly track but it started moving North East and forced every one to pack it in and head for shelter.
We fished top waters, popping corks and straight lead. Terry had a nice trout on a Chrome she pup but lost it near the boat. I had a hard strike on a pearl/ chrt she pup but it didn't stay hooked for very long. Danita had a few short strikes on the popping cork and I had a 14 inch trout eat a DOA shad tail in LSU colors under the cork.I wanted to be in the mid lake area around 10:00am but we had to leave due to the storms. We knew it was going to be a gamble but the Roe's are real troopers and gave it a shot any way. Hopefully next time the weather and fish will cooperate.
Tight lines, Mike
