8/25/07 I decided to give Bessie Heights a visit this morning with my buddy Dale. He hadn't run his flats boat in a while so we took it. We couldn't leave before day light because his running lights don't work so we got a little later start than usual. We had a high incoming tide this morning and for most of the day. The water depth made it hard to sight cast even though the clarity was good over most of the marsh so we mostly blind cast with top waters and spinner baits. The spinner bait saw the most action of the day. The only problem all of the Reds we caught were under sized. I had one good sized fish pick up the spinner bait but the line broke when I set the hook? I did catch one keeper Flounder and had two more under sized ones. It's good to see the Flounder numbers coming up. For several years past I have caught far less Flounder than say 5 years ago. There was hardly a breath of air moving around noon but we stuck around until about 1:15pm. and decided to call it a day. The fish bite was very slow and we were burned out and threw in the towel. Tight lines, Mike
