Fly tying in Houston and the Flu or some thing like it!I Have been fighting some sort of flu bug the past week. I had an elevated temprature last Sunday and a sore throat. That passed by mid week and I thought it was over. I started to loose my voice Friday night with the soreness coming back.
Well after today at the Texas fly fishers tying Fest. it's totaly gone. I was able to visit with the patrons most of the day but by 3:45 pm it was history. I had high hopes of making it out to Bessie Heights marsh Sunday around noon but the way I feel now I'm not sure it's going to happen. I had gotten a reliable report about last week end from my friend "Greg Leblanc" AKA CROPO. He had caught over 30 Red fish on an incoming tide using soft plastic. He even had a few small Flounder boated to boot. The Reds were just under the 20 inch mark but this time of the year I would be glad to do battle on light tackle with them. I'm really getting my hopes up for the Heights this year. The past season saw good numbers of juvenile fish in the system with several becoming legal lenght by the end of fall. Greg proved the numbers of Reds occuping the estuary are still there.
