3/9/2007 Illness still plaguing us
Well I didn't get to fish again this weekend. My wife woke up Saturday morning crying with an ear ache and a sore throat from Hell. We got her to a Doc in the box and she was given some antibiotics and was told she had a strain of the flu. Nothing was mentioned about Strep throat thank goodness. Hopefully the medicine will work fast and get her back on her feet in a few days.Until then I get to play nurse maid and take care of my Angel.
Word is the bite on the South end of the lake over the reef is starting to gain momentum. Soft plastic bounced just off the Oyster shell while drifting is taking some nice Trout and a few Reds along with an occasional Flounder. Dark colors worked last week but that can change with the tide so bring along a selection of colors and different lead head weights. As far as line choice30# Power Pro braided line
http://powerpro.com/ will telegraph the slightest bite and put more fish in the boat at the end of the day. I always add about 2 foot of 15# Fluorocarbon tippet to the terminal end of the line. This allows you to break off the line if you get fouled on the reef. The braid is tuff to break and will cut your hand like a knife" I speak from experience" if you wrap it around your hand and pull to hard. I hope this was the last cold blast of the year and things will start to come into line for a good Spring pattern, I'm really getting the fever to spend more time on the water.
Tight lines, Mike
