Beautiful weather for a change
I had the privilege of fishing with Steve Robinson his son Regan and his friend John today. We got an early start but the Trout didn't really do any thing until around 8:00am. The bite was sporadic with birds working then moving off as soon as we got close. The trout were moving fast also and wouldn't hold in one area very long so it was mostly run and gun fishing. D.O.A. root beer/chart. shad tails caught a lot of fish but Bone/diamond, glow/chart. and Texas roach colors worked to. There were a lot of other boats in the area so we had plenty of company on the South end of the lake. We witnessed one temper flair "water rage" I guess you call it, as the angler ran his big motor right through the gulls we were working. He then made an obscene gesture to the boat next to us as he headed East. If you can't take lots of boats close to you you don't need to fish the birds. Most of us understand the game and if you approach the flock on your trolling motor every things OK , just don't run your big motor right up to the birds and expect to be welcomed in. We caught a lot of small trout today and lost a few keepers right at the boat. The tides weren't in our favor as the tide didn't really start to fall about the time we had to leave. We did however manage a nice mess of trout fillets, I agree with Steve, Trout Almonddean!
Tight lines, Mike
