8/17/2008 The rains have moved in
I'm still alive but I haven't gotten out as much as I have wanted to. Preston and I fished the O.C.A.R.C tournament 2 weeks ago but couldn't put any weigh in sized fish in the boat. The lake looked great but the new moon and a dead tide all day made conditions tuff. Last week I was on call and didn't want to chance getting called to work about the time I got out to the lake. with these gas prices I try to make the most of the fuel I have to burn. This weekend the rain came down hard most of the day. Sunday after church Preston and I made a short trip up the Sabine river just to check on a few spots. The water had about a foot visibility but that dead tide was still there. It seems as of lately every time I get a chance to wet a hook the tide is at it's transition point from low to high or vise/versa. If you know any thing about fishing the Sabine area you know tide is every thing. Hopefully the tropical storms in the Atlantic will stay there and our area will settle back down into a summer time pattern. It won't be long until the 1st fronts start to come down our way and set up the fall fishing season. I have scheduled two weeks in October just to fish so If your looking to fish in the prime season give me a shout and we can set up a date during the peak season. Tight lines, Mike
