3/10/11 High Barometer,Low water, Tuff conditionsI fished a party of three today. We
we were one of 4 boats in the group fishing trip. We knew the conditions were going to be ruff but Steve,Lester and Richard gave it their best shot and came up with a nice box of fish by the end of the day.The trout were scattered but still were willing to bite if you got your bait in front of them. We took a break from the wind and ran up river to fish the cuts feeding the marsh flats. We picked up trout and Flounder and managed to stay out of the wind for a while. Around noon the wind had decreased some what so we ran back out to the lake and drifted 4 foot of water fishing Texas Roach shad tails on 1/4oz. jig heads. We picked up more trout and Richard boated another nice Flounder. we only had one Rat Red today but some of the other boats in the party had 2 limits of larger slot sized fish. If you don't own a drift sock you need to get one if you try to fish on days like today.By slowing down your drift speed you can make a more through coverage of the water your trying to fish that equals more fish in the boat. The best colors were Texas Roach and Chicken on a chain shad tails. The popping cork I love so much didn't pay off today either? The fish were up in the water column but didn't like the presentation. The fishing is heating up, don't miss out on a good bite, Go Fish!
